Miscellaneous & Sweeteners

  • Dear Rebecca~ I have a question about vinegar. My father, who is 94, has had an itching condition for quite some time on his the middle front of his leg. He has asked several doctors/dermatologist about this and has had no relief. He has tried some home remedies that have not helped either. There is no rash or anything that is visible with it. A woman that runs a spa in his town suggested taking vinegar which he tried and this did not work. After reading about vinegar in your new whole foods encyclopedia I was wondering if the reason for this was that he used the regular apple cider vinegar that most of us purchase at the grocery store and was considering buying him the certified organic unfiltered and unpasteurized type that you write about in your book. Do you think that this would help and if so, what type of vinegar would you recommend? I should note that he had a case of Bell’s Palsy this last fall and said that when he was taking the medication for that it helped relieve the itching. I don’t know the exact name of the medication but I am quite sure that it was a steroid. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
