Face Reading Helps Resolve Snoring

A Root Cause of Snoring

Wanting to stop snoring, this 59-year-old Californian, we’ll call her Hannah, requested a Face Reading. Before we look for subtle facial indicators that can correlate with snoring, let’s start with the big picture and first delight in Hannah. To me, her face radiates warmth and openness. Could one ever tire of looking at beautiful faces?

Facial tone can correlate to snoring.

Now to address snoring, let’s briefly consider its cause. To do so, imagine a straw: you can blow through it when it’s empty, but if it is blocked, your breath will vibrate around any obstructions.

Snoring is similar. When our airways are open and toned, breath flows smoothly. When they’re not, our breath rattles and buzzes around the uvula (the cone-shaped soft tissue suspended at the back of the throat). The resulting sound can vary from a sweet purr to a roar that can go so far as to damage the eardrums.

As lack of tone in the airways is a cause of snoring. For clues of what causes this, we’ll look for untoned facial areas. Their location will, like a map, point to the inner organ system in need of toning. Indeed, faces are telling!

Putting Face Reading to Work

Zooming in on Hannah’s face, we see swelling on both eyelids and the sides of her nose. According to Five Element Traditional Chinese Medicine, these areas correspond to the upper gastrointestinal tract. So, to address snoring, she can tone her digestion.

Eyelids and sides of nose lack tone.

Lack of Tone – One Symptom of Digestive Issues

Should you have swelling in both or either location, does this mean you’re a snorer? Not necessarily. Symptoms of compromised digestion vary widely. They include:  chronic fatigue, food sensitivities, weight issues, GERD, heartburn, edema, yeast or fungal infections, menstrual problems and being fretful or nervous.

People eating a modern-day diet experience diet-related health issues. When you eat foods that overly tax your system, they’re not fully combusted and residue or inflammation occurs. When chronic, swelling and loss of tone results. In Hannah’s case, snoring appears to be a symptom caused by an overly taxed digestive system. For many people, dairy is an inflammatory food, and it featured in her diet. Hannah even noted that adding cream to her coffee seems to make her snoring worse.

Some Foods Heighten Congestion

My book the New Whole Foods Encyclopedia includes the medicinal and energetic properties of over 1000 foods. It references the foods that exacerbate congestion and can lead to lack of tone as well as those that help reduce it. For example, pears, mustard greens, mustard seeds and onions help reduce congestion and therefore help support good tone.

Hannah’s opportunity is to modify her diet and lifestyle to support her overall digestion. I’ve privately advised her of steps specific to her. You will find general guidelines on the Earth Element Blog.
